Oklahoma’s Onion Burger

Hey there and welcome to Taylor of Oklahoma’s recipe column for the week!

Today we’re talking burgers, but not just any burgers - we’re talking Oklahoma’s finest, the Onion Burger. Known across the nation, our state is famous for their always delicious, always satisfying onion burger. Did you know, Taylor machinery might just make the best onion burger of all time? We are only talking facts, here.

Okay, let’s get down to business…

What you will need:

  • 2 Pounds ground beef

  • 1.5 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 3 Fresh cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1 Cup minced yellow onion

  • Generous dash of salt and pepper

  • 1 Teas Italian Seasoning

  • .5 Teas paprika

Directions:

  1. Mix together the beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and paprika in a bowl. Remember! Don’t over-mix, hamburgers weren’t meant to be handled too much! After mixing together, gently fold in half of your minced onions into the beef. Set aside in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours.

  2. Once your meat has been chilled, start up your Taylor Grill and get ready to have the clamshell lid do all the sizzling.

  3. Form your patties to the appropriate sizing desired (we recommend roughly ½ inches thick) and add a layer of minced onions to the top of the patty. When the clamshell lid covers the patty, it will naturally caramelize the onions perfectly on top.

  4. Butter your choice of hamburger buns and toss them on the grill until lightly toasted. Add toppings of choice and BANG! You have Oklahoma's own - The Onion Burger.
